Excavation permits, from the plans to the crew's phone.
Permit-to-work software for Australian civil contractors. Before You Dig responses, site checks and sign-offs are kept on one permit, so the office and the crew can see what is ready and what still needs doing.
A 20-minute walkthrough of a sample job. Nothing to prepare.

Prepare
Asset owner responses become services, conditions and open questions on the permit.
Check on site
Locating and potholing record what is in the ground. Measured depths stay separate from plan lines.
- EXC-014Issued
- Requester
- Surveyor
- Engineer
- Authoriser
- Supervisor
Final copy #01 saved. Any change makes a new version.
Issue
Every required role signs. The final copy is saved and prints as one document.
- EXC-014Handing back
- Requester
- Supervisor
Two different people sign. It waits for any change still under review.
Hand back
When the work is done, the requester signs the site back, then the supervisor reviews it and signs.
Built for the crew at the trench.
The supervisor runs the day from a phone: pre-start, crew sign-on, holds and hand-back.
The permit is on the phone
The supervisor and crew with an account open the issued permit on their phones. Once opened with signal, it stays readable for 72 hours without it.
One phone signs the crew on
Crew without an account sign on the supervisor's phone, and the supervisor signs once as witness.
Anyone on the permit can stop work
Tap Stop work, or report a damaged service, and the permit goes on hold. The whole crew and the office see the hold in the app straight away.
Records wait for signal
Pre-starts, observations, pothole captures and hand-back signatures wait on the phone and send when signal returns. If the permit changed meanwhile, the person checks it and signs again.
Set up in the office.
Plans, owner responses and the ground model are on the permit before anyone digs.
Before You Dig from the permit
Lodge the enquiry from the permit where your organisation has it switched on, or upload the owner responses you already have.
The ground in 2D and 3D
A plan view and a section of every service. Potholed depths are drawn solid and plan-only lines dashed, so a plan is never mistaken for a measurement.
Your process, your roles
Set the permit types, the fields and who must sign for your organisation.
A record you can stand behind
Every signature and change is logged on the permit. A change makes a new version and marks the old final copy as replaced.
AI reads the owner responses. Your people sign off.
Where your organisation switches it on, the AI reads each asset owner response and drafts the review. Nothing reaches the permit until a person approves it.
- Reads every page and cites the page it used
- Drafts the review. Applies nothing itself
- Lists what it could not read or check
Prefer to read them yourselves? The same owner review works without AI.
Read the water response and list what is still missing.
Read the response, 6 pages. Two conditions, one gap.
- Found
- Plan expires 3 Oct 2026. Fibre and power assets in the legend.
- Needs you
- Confirm the conduit bank depth. It is not stated on any plan.
- Not done
- Drawings not reviewed. Nothing lodged, verified or signed.
Before you ask.
Straight answers before the call.
Internal permits or council applications?
Internal permit-to-work for excavation and ground disturbance. Permitech does not lodge council or road-authority applications.
How does it work with Before You Dig?
Where enabled for your organisation, the enquiry is lodged from the permit through the supported provider and responses land on the permit. You can also upload responses yourself. Plan alignments stay separate from positions measured on site.
Can we keep our sign-off process?
Yes. Permit types, fields and the roles that must sign are set for your organisation.
What works without signal?
A permit opened on a phone with signal stays readable there for 72 hours. Pre-starts, stop-work reports, observations, pothole captures and hand-back signatures wait on the phone and send when signal returns. Anything refused because the permit changed comes back to the person to check and sign again. Crew sign-on needs signal.
Can crew without an account sign on?
Yes. They sign on the supervisor's phone, and the supervisor signs as witness for the group.
Does the AI approve anything?
No. It drafts. People verify, sign and issue. Owner review also works with the AI switched off.
What does it cost?
One plan priced by permits a year, with unlimited users. We explain the cost, setup and any minimum commitment before you decide.
See it on a sample job.
Twenty minutes, one job from the plans to the issued permit. Nothing to prepare and no account to create.
